Respite | Walnuts College | Day Services
In order to address the current shortage of suitable provision Walnuts Care offers out-of-hours,
personalised 1:1 care which can be accessed at weekends, in the evenings and/or holiday times. Care may involve community sessions, accessing local clubs and facilities or spending time together in the family home.
Programmes are both person-centred and fully flexible, designed to provide a package that suits the individual and their family. Referrals for the service are received from the Children with Disabilities Team, or please use the Contact Us page.
We currently have an extensive waiting list for children’s respite care, if you’d like to work for us as a respite carer, supporting children and young people with Autism to access the things they love, please get in touch.
In 2018, the Care Quality Commission rated Walnuts Care’s Respite Services as OUTSTANDING!
In 2012 Walnuts Care and Milton Keynes College created Walnuts College. The College is an educational provision for school leavers with autism who have social, communication and interaction difficulties and who cannot access mainstream College. Learners work towards accredited qualifications that combine independence, living skills and enjoying their community.
Our learners receive 1:1 support and teaching is delivered by specialists within the field of Autism.
Walnuts College delivers its learning programmes from Tuesday-Friday, 34 weeks per year.
There is the option to ‘top-up’ the support we offer to include Monday’s and an additional 5 weeks, taking the year to 5 days a week, 39 weeks a year. See our day services page or contact us for more information.
From our base in Milton Keynes, Walnuts Care offers a Day Service for young adults who have Autism or related difficulties. Day Services generally follow the same term-time pattern as our Educational Services but additional care may be available for up to 52 weeks each year, staffed by our own experienced, skilled and knowledgeable team.
A range of stimulating activities and outings can be accessed. Our emphasis is on supporting the development of Life Skills, Social Interaction and, where appropriate, Independence. Everything is carefully planned depending on the needs of the individuals we help.
To provide a range of support services for local families and for those affected by social, communication and interaction difficulties.
